In the North Vietnam including Hanoi and Halong bay, Mai chau, Ninh Binh May to October is hot and humid with high rainfall. Temperature avarages 30 – 37 degrees. The highest rainfall occurs from July to September even to early October and may affect the Halong bay overnight cruise. The serious storm and heavy rain may cause the cruise cancellation but this weather is rare.The cool and dry season lasts from November to April when temperature ranges from 12 – 28 degrees. This period is the best time to visit the North Vietnam. If you are interested in the cold weather, come to the North Vietnam from December to February.
The mountainous far north area including Sapa, Ha giang, Mu Cang Chai witness a little bit different weather. The best time to visit Sapa is from March to May and from September to November. Daytime temperature avarages 18 – 28 while night time is from 10 – 18 degrees. During this time, we have sunny days and cool nights. It’s dry, clear with lot of sunshine. It’s perfect for trekking and photos. September is also the harvest season and offer amazing view for the yeallow terrece rice field. In winter from December to February, Sapa becomes very cold and chilly, especially at night and it can be foggy. Temperature may drop under 5 degrees. From June to August, Sapa highlights cool summer but it’s not considered the ideal time to visit Sapa. It’s the rainy season and tourist may not enjoy the trekking much.
The central Vietnam includes Hue, Danang, Hoian distinguish between dry and wet season. But in genereal it is warm all year round. The hot and dry weather runs from January to late August. Temperature reaches from 25 to 37 degrees while the wet season falls from September to December. The highest rainfall occurs in October and November, occasionally happens typhoons. Hoian, the beautiful ancient town sometime floods in October and November.
Far south of center Vietnam, we have beautiful beaches Quy Nhon and Nha trang where the tourist can benefit the longer dry and sunny season, typically from January to September. The rainy season runs from Otober to early December.
Dalat, the city in the central highlands, is wet from June to October and dry from November to May. It’s cold in December and January.
Southern Vietnam including Ho chi minh city, Mekong delta, Muine is generally warm and sunny all year round. The average temperature ranges between 25- 36 degrees. The dry season begins in November and ends in April. The wet season last from May to October. June, July and August see the highgest rainfall of the year but short lasting and often occur for a few hours in the afternoon with heavy downpour. It almost don’t affect the traveling. Actully there is neither best time nor worst time to visit the south Vietnam. Tourist can come there anytime of the year.
Unlike HCMC, Phu Quoc Island has dry season from October to June, which is perfect for beach holidays. It’s sunny and clear all day. From November to March is always the peak season there where the weather is very pleasant and the temperature reaches 30 degrees celsius. FromJuly to September, it is most of the time raining cats and dogs. Take note that from April to June are the hottest months.
